Bringing a product idea to life can be a complex process, so it’s important to work with a company that will support you all the way. We’ll use the latest software to prove your concept, review its validity, and create 3D models that can easily be shared. This can be done from 2D drawings, rough sketches, or by reverse engineering existing components.

From there, we’ll discuss required tolerances and material selection, before bringing in our state-of-the-art equipment to manufacture your product. If required, we can effortlessly transition from prototyping to full production, so you can be completely confident in our ability to to take care of everything.

Our Precision Prototyping Machines

Mantec Engineering’s rapid prototyping capabilities are backed up by a powerful combination of CNC milling and turning machines.

Doosan VC 630/5AX

Thanks to its simultaneous 5-axis machining capability, the VC 630/5AX enables us to machine parts to completion in a single set-up.

Equipped with a Heidenhain iTNC 530 control and spindle speeds of 12,000-20,000rpm, this machine offers exceptional quality and great speed of production.

Doosan DNM 350/5AX

Highly-flexible, the 350/5AX can cope with all manners of specifications, no matter the complexity or sophistication required.

Its 5-axis, vertical machining centre boasts a high-rigid, high-speed spindle that is ideal for both heavy cutting and intricate workpiece shapes.

Doosan DNM650 Series 2

Perfect for when high cutting capacity is required, this machine excels at producing accurate, precisely-specified products, even in large volumes.

Fitted with a 1200rpm direct coupled spindle and thermal displacement cutting as standard, the DNM650 II delivers exceptional quality at all times.

Doosan Puma MX 2600ST x4

Boasting unparalleled flexibility, the powerful MX 2600ST effortlessly handles a wide range of operations — from providing standard CNC turning services to complex multi-axis simultaneous machining.

Its off-centre Y-axis +/- 115mm and integrated B-axis, coupled with combined machining and turning centres make high performance tasks a breeze.

Doosan Puma TT1800SY

Exceptional power and performance ensures maximum productivity from this machine. An 8″chuck with double spindles outputs 22kW 5,000rpm, with both turrets offering 12/24 positions.

Driven Tools (5.5kW 5,000rpm) and ±50mm Y-axis capability further enhance performance and provide flexibility.

Hurco VM10i (x2)

Offering powerful CNC milling capabilities, the compact VM10i is loaded with remarkably large capacity for its size.

Its larger work cube offers impressive X axis travel, while the advanced technologies on its WinMax control system helps to reduce cycle times by up to 30%, and significantly increase surface finish quality.

Ecoca MT2087 MC/500

Equipped with a sophisticated CNC control system, the MT2087 MC/500 effortlessly carries out complex operations and ensures consistently accurate results.

Its high-performance spindle motor allows for efficient material removal, making it ideal for achieving high tolerances and excellent surface finishes — as well as producing high-precision parts with intricate geometries.

Mitutoyo S9106 Crysta-Apex

The star of our metrology department, this coordinate measuring machine is packed with state-of-the-art technology to ensure very high accuracy at high speeds.

This handy piece of kit enables us to produce first article inspection reports to ensure compliance with even the strictest tolerance requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Precision prototyping helps people who have a new product idea to prove their concept and manufacture test products for evaluation and testing. Clients can then review the integrity of their components and get a feel for the economics of production, before deciding on whether to progress with their idea or make any changes.

Precision prototyping is a multi-dimensional service that combines Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining techniques to help clients navigate the early stages of product development. The aim is to iron out any potential issues with the component and get it ready for mass production.

The process can be used with a wide selection of materials such as steel, aluminium, plastics, copper, and brass. Exactly which base material is most suitable for the job can be determined during the consultation and evaluation stages.

If you have an idea for a new product, it’s important to prove your concept works and ensure that the item itself is suitable for mass-production. The last thing you need is to waste time and money manufacturing a large batch, only to find it’s not fit for purpose or can’t be made profitably. Rapid prototyping is the perfect solution for this problem.

By working with a specialist precision engineering company, you can ensure that your component is completely ready for mass-production, before you pull the trigger.

Precision prototyping services are extremely versatile and can be called upon to produce a wide range of products for many areas of industry. These include everything from aerospace, defence, and the railways, to food & drink, oil & gas, and the energy sector.
